Buffalo Church Plant

In February 2009, Harris Hill Mennonite Church closed with the understanding that N.Y. Mennonite Conference would use the church’s assets to try to plant at least one new church in the Buffalo area.

Since June 2010 a small group with interest in Mennonite values has been meeting Wednesday evenings for hymn singing, fellowship and food.

This initiative is bringing groups to the table who don't often work together - people from different local Mennonite churches, from different Christian faith traditions, different races, and backgrounds

Our focus is on the lower West Side of Buffalo with its poverty, violence and diverse population. The area has few churches and especially needs churches with an active, holistic ministry. We envision a church with a vibrant ministry that is thoroughly Anabaptist in theology and practice. Core values are radical discipleship, authentic community, and reconciliation. We expect to see new expressions of church emerging in this church planting movement.

We continue to prayerfully seek a catalytic leader for a new church with a holistic ministry on the lower West Side.  Click here for Job Description.
