Church Planting Fund

NY Mennonite Conference has created a fund to support church planting, outreach and mission within NYMC. The fund was approved at the Delegate Assembly of April 21, 2012. For more information, read the documents below or contact a member of the Coordinating Council. The Fund expects to begin taking applications at the end of 2012.

Fund Purpose

The Outreach and Church Planting Fund supports church planting, outreach and mission within New York Mennonite Conference.

Administration

The Coordinating Council shall function as the Fund Committee.
The Fund Committee has the following responsibilities:
  1. Administer the Fund according to these guidelines.
  2. Promote the Fund within the Conference and its congregations.
  3. Accept grant applications for the Fund.
  4. Make distribution decisions based on these guidelines.
  5. Report fund balance, past fund expenditures, committed expenditures, and status of applications at each Delegate Assembly.

Application and Approval Process

Applications for the Outreach and Church Planting Fund will be accepted from persons or groups actively involved in the life of New York Mennonite Conference or one of its congregations.  Applications will be available from the treasurer and on the NYMC website. Completed applications may be forwarded to New York Mennonite Conference  [treasurer@nymennonite.org]. Copies of the submitted applications will be distributed to the entire committee as soon as possible. Grant decisions will be communicated to the applicants in writing as soon as possible. The Conference will be informed of all awards through the reports of the Coordinating Council at Delegate Assemblies.  A covenant between an Outreach Team and the New York Mennonite Conference will be made.

Priorities in evaluating applications

  1. Applicant actively involved in the life of NYMC or one of its congregations.
  2. Application meets the purpose of the fund.
  3. Level of need.
  4. Level of impact.
  5. Congregational involvement in the ministry.
  6. Other necessary resources for this proposal already committed.
  7. Feasibility of the plan.

Contributing to the Fund

Contributions to this fund can be submitted at any time to the NYMC treasurer.
